Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko has ordered a
fresh investigation into the allegation that Mombasa Governor Hassan
Joho forged his university degree.
Mr Tobiko ordered
the investigation after receiving a petition from Silas Otuke, a voter
who is questioning the authenticity of Governor Joho's degree.
"DPP
Tobiko today ordered fresh investigations into alleged forgery of
degree cert. by Gov. Hassan Joho. This follows a petition by Silas
Otuke," said a post on the DPP's Twitter account.
The
High Court in Mombasa had last month dismissed a petition by Mr Otuke
challenging the academic qualifications of Governor Joho.
A three-judge bench struck down the petition on the grounds that it amounted to abuse of the court process.
While
delivering the judgment before a packed courtroom, justices Christine
Meoli, Edward Muriithi and Martin Muya said the petitioner did not
follow the correct procedure when he filed the case and declared it
immature.
