The protracted battle over the leadership of Moi University has been settled following the appointment of Prof Isaac Kosgey as the new Vice-Chancellor.
Prof Kosgey replaces Prof Laban Ayiro, whose term expired on Monday.
According to a statement from the Education ministry, Prof Ayiro will hand over to the new VC Wednesday at the university’s main campus in Kesses in a ceremony that will presided over by Moi University Council Chairman Jeremiah Ntoloi Ole Koshal.
The statement did not indicate where Prof Ayiro will head next.
The university’s acting Public Relations Officer Alfred Wandera said more details will be communicated in the near future.

In 2016, there was a standoff in the university after a section of leaders from the North Rift stormed the university demanding the appointment of Prof Kosgey as Vice-Chancellor after he topped in the interviews.
The then Education Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i, cancelled the recruitment process and appointed a new council to conduct the interviews afresh.
