A man was Tuesday charged before a Mombasa court for allegedly rubbing his genitals on a woman while aboard a ferry at the Likoni channel.
Mr Michael George Ogada pleaded guilty to the charge of committing an indecent act to an adult, which is contrary the Sexual Offences Act.
Senior Principal Magistrate Richard Odenyo heard that Mr Ogada intentionally rubbed the complainant’s backsides with his private parts against her will on December 30, 2013 at the Likoni ferry crossing channel.
The complainant told the police that while crossing from Likoni mainland to Mombasa Island, the suspect indecently pushed her while she was standing in the crowd of other passengers.
The woman said she alerted her husband who was with her on the ferry.
The husband intervened and helped arrest the accused.
The Monday morning incident attracted other passengers on the ferry who arrested the accused and frog marched him to the Ferry Police post.
The incident occurred while the ferry was midway across the Likoni channel.
It was forced to turn back and the suspect was taken to a police post stationed on the mainland.
The court however reserved its ruling to allow the prosecution examine the facts of the case in readiness for sentencing.
Women passengers using ferries at the busy Likoni channel have in the past been complaining of such incidents.
