The body of a Kenyan student who drowned while swimming in a lake in Germany has been flown to Kenya. Joshua K’Oduka, who moved to Germany a month ago and was currently attending language courses at the Uni Leipzig is said to have drowned at a lake in the Eastern German city Leipzig. His mother Benta K’Oduka said it was Joshua’s second trip to Germany having been here in 2013 for an internship at the University of Heidelberg. “It is summer there and they had gone for swimming sessions when he drowned. I am very hurt. Very hurt but we will soldier on,” she said on the phone. Ms K’Oduka said the body was flown to Kenya ahead of Friday’s planned burial event in Homabay. A Maseno University graduate, Joshua was a well-known researcher in the field of medical entomology and parasitology focusing on Malaria, having even worked at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) in the same field. He leaves behind his wife, Debbie K’Oduka, a 3 year old daughter, Miky and a brother, Kevin K’Oduka inShare Next Story » #MCM: Kevin Onimba aka Rabbit- How Kaka Sungura's tales built a musical empire Read More...
