TERM DATES 2017

The Ministry of Education has released term dates for 2017, with the first term set to begin on January 4. Students in all public learning institutions are expected to be in school for 14 weeks in the first and second terms respectively and nine weeks in the third term to allow candidates undertaking their national examinations to do so without distraction.
For the first term, the ministry has set dates for the midterms in which students will break in the first term from 27th February to March 4th while for the second term the dates will 19th to 24th June. In the third term, the students will be required to be in school throughout as the term is short.
The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) will be commencing from 30th October to 3rd November while the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will run from the 6th to 30th November. County Directors of Education, school principals and head teachers have received the new dates and are expected to comply.
The Ministry said the decision was agreed upon after a lot of consultations with various stakeholders and key players in the education sector.
