KENYA: Ambassador Macharia Kamau appointed Chairperson of UN's Eighth Advisory Group of Peacebuilding Fund

Amb. Macharia Kamau, who served as Foreign Affairs PS during H.E Uhuru Kenyatta's administration, has been appointed by the United Nations (UN) Secretary General Antonio Guterres to serve as Chairperson of the Eighth Advisory Group of the Peacebuilding Fund,

the UN's financial instrument of first resort to sustain peace in countries or situations at risk or affected by violent conflict.

Amb Kamau, who previously served as Kenya's Permanent Representative to the UN during which time he served as the Co-Chair and Co-Facilitator of the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, will be leading a12-member team of eminent persons in guiding the overall strategy and direction of the UN fund that has a $50 million annual budget.
