KISUMU -NANDI BORDER TAKES A NEW TWIST.
" This is not the time to have squabbles on minor issues such as county boundaries, this is the time to enhance human development and work towards achieving the President's Big Four agenda, " Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi.
Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang' Nyong'o and his Nandi counterpart Stephen Sang' today came together to show their intention of strengthening the ties that binds the two counties in a meeting that was chaired by Dr. Fred Matiangi Cabinet Secretary Ministry Interior and Coordination of National Government at Waterbuck Hotel, Nakuru.
Kisumu and Nandi county have in the past witnessed flare ups arising from historical land issues, historical boundary issues and cattle rustling. It's under this backdrop that the two leaders came together alongside their council of elders to find an amicable solution to bring this issues to an hault.
Speaking at the function Governor. Prof Anyang' Nyong'o urged leaders from both Nandi and Kisumu County to deal with the real issues affecting the citizenry of these counties ranging from poverty, unemployment, mismanagement of sugar factories and the issue of sugar barons that have recently rocked the nation.
" Let us not build a mountain out of the mole hill, let us leave the boundary issues to be solved by constitutionally available avenue such as IEBC and the. National Lands Commission ( NLC ), " Prof. Anyang' Nyong'o
Dr. Fred Matiang'i on his part urged both parties to enhance inter county relationships and embrace peace building initiatives. He went on and promised to facilitate the elders inter county peace visits both in Kisumu and Nandi county from his ministry's budget adding that administrative issues within the two counties will be looked into as a means of addressing issues of shortage of staffs in the counties thus boosting services delivery to the people a move that was seconded by both governors.
Also present was Madam Pauline Dola and Mr. Barri Kisumu County Commissioner and Nandi county commissioner respectively.
