Police on Saturday arrested Nigerian Anthony Chinedu after he was found with substances suspected to be narcotic drugs.
The head of Kenya's Anti Narcotic Unit (ANU) Dr Hamsi Massa said that the substances were found in Mr Chinedu’s residence in Kileleshwa, Nairobi.
A chemical analysis of the haul will be done on Monday to establish the type and possible value of the substance.
Mr Chinedu is in custody at the Kileleshwa police station.
Kenya's Immigration Department has in the past linked Mr Chinedu to drug trafficking and unsuccessfully sought for his deportation. (READ: Chinedu linked to narcotics)
Mr Chinedu found himself in the limelight in March 2009 in a messy property row with his former wife Ms Joyce Akinyi, over control of the multi-million-shilling Deep West Restaurant in Nairobi. (READ: Akinyi barred from dealing with resort)
