President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent a message of condolence to the
family of former Assistant Minister Arthur Aggrey Ochwada who died on
Thursday.Mr Kenyatta said that the death of Mr Ochwada has
robbed Kenya of a selfless and hardworking servant who worked with
dedication and excelled in all his endeavours.“Indeed, the death of Hon Ochwada is a personal
loss to me not only because he is my in-law, but also because of his
contribution and service to our beloved country as a public servant,
politician and trade unionist,” President Kenyatta said.He noted that as a trade unionist, the late
Ochwada strongly advocated for the rights and welfare of the Kenyan
worker particularly during the pre-independence period. He said Mr Ochwada’s strong belief for justice and
love for others endeared him to the people of the then Busia
Constituency earning him a ticket to represent them as a member of
parliament in the late 1960s and early 1970s.Mr Kenyatta said the late Ochwada was so focused in his service to the country and was appointed an assistant minister.“Upon his appointment, he served with ability, competence, diligence and admirable dedication,” he said.“As we pay homage to the soul of this great son of
Kenya, it is my trust that we will also celebrate his life, his
achievements and his service to our country,” he added.
