Kisumu Senator Anyang' Nyong’o has assured Kenyans that he is fine.
The former Medical Services minister has not been seen in the public for some time raising speculation over his health.
However in a Facebook post Saturday, Prof Nyong’o said he has been out of the country for "personal commitments in the UK".
“Fellow countrymen, thanks so much for your concern. I have been out of the country for personal commitments in the UK and I’ll be back by Monday evening,” stated the post.
Eliud Owalo, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s chief campaigner in the last elections and Salim Lone, Mr Odinga's advisor, said they had spoken with Prof Nyong'o and he was doing well.
“I speak to him regularly. I spoke to him on Thursday and even today (Saturday). I have his authority to confirm to all his friends and supporters that he will be back in the country on Monday,” said Mr Owalo.
“He is absolutely fine. It is such a mystery that anyone would start any rumours about him. This is just bizarre,” said Mr Lone.
Prof Nyongo, his wife and four children left for the UK three weeks ago.
At his Nyagudi Ogambi residence in Seme Maurice Achola, the farm manager said he had been queried.
“We have received several calls from people wanting to know his whereabouts and how he is doing. Professor just went to the UK on personal matters and he will be back,” he said.
Mr Achola further stated that he had communicated with the family.
“We had our last communication Friday evening and talked to the Prof himself where he informed us that he had heard the of the same and would come back on Monday to clarify the matter,” said Mr Achola.
