We first got wind of this model in 2009. This model was unlike any other model I had encountered.
For this model however, he says has what it takes to be successful
“female” model, but he does not see “herself” getting there unless
things change.
His name is Biko Beauttah who was born and raised in Kenya. He was
born in Mombasa and attended Moi Nyeri Complex Primary School and Aga
Khan High School in Mombasa.
Biko Beauttah began a career in Fashion as a Fashion Stylist. Lately,
Biko has been pushed full force into modelling quickly becoming one of
the most sort after alternative models in Canada. Prior to moving to
Canada, he was a resident of Dallas, Texas.
He joined a university in Dallas in 2000,and in 2006 migrated to Canada to work as a freelance fashion stylist.
He is the founder and editor of a popular blog www.lamutamu.com
Biko is not your typical model. Though he was born a man, he does not
feel comfortable in man’s body. According to Biko, she was never
comfortable as a boy from an early age. She liked girl stuff; wanted to
be a girl; wished she was a girl.
He has now fully embraced his physical conflicts and transformed
himself into a woman. This comes with dressing like a woman and
basically leaving his male side behind.
If he can be accepted as a part of the traditional world of models in
fashion, then the sky is the limit. She however gets her accolades from
various quarters. She has even appeared on the Tyra Banks Show. She has
received awards by various Toronto Magazines including the Canadian
Broadcasting corporation. She is making a name for herself in Toronto,
Canada and she is doing what it takes to get to that next level that she
wants to get to the next level.
But is society ready to embrace transgender models? Only time will tell.
Biko wants to be labelled a “she” but of course not a “he-she”
