The National Police Service Commission has
advertised positions of 94 County Commanders at the rank of Assistant
Inspector General.
Forty seven officers will be in
charge of Kenya Police while the other 47 will be in charge of the
Administration Police at the county levels, as the restructuring of the
NPSC continues.
As required by law, the
recruitment will be done competitively with the participation of the
public. Those suitable for the positions have to be of the rank of
superintendent of police and above, be university graduates and must
have served for at least 10 years.
The commission also plans to
advertise for the positions of various directorates in the force
including Operations, Planning, Logistics and Development, Gender and
Community Policing, Personnel, Internal Affairs Unit and Communication.
The delay in appointment of the officers to the positions has adversely affected police operations.
On Friday, Bungoma County
Commissioner Jamleck Mbaruka told Deputy President William Ruto that he
could not hold security meetings because the county did not have
officers in charge of AP, Police and Intelligence.
NPSC chairman Johnston Kavuludi said vetting will start next month as the vetting tools had been developed.
