A career hotelier was Thursday nominated as Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government.
President Uhuru Kenyatta nominated Utalii Hotel general manager Joseph ole Lenku to the crucial docket that will oversee the country’s security.
Former Medical Services assistant minister Kazungu Kambi is the Cabinet Secretary nominee for Labour, Social Security and Services.
“I have subsequently forwarded the names to Parliament for approval,” said President Kenyatta.
With the nomination of Mr Lenku and Mr Kambi, a former Kaloleni MP, President Kenyatta has completed his Cabinet line-up of 18 ministries. Already, 16 Cabinet Secretaries have taken up their new roles after being sworn in last week.
During the occasion, the President asked the Cabinet to drive the realisation of Vision 2030 and make Kenya competitive globally.
Mr Kenyatta told the Cabinet Secretaries to get down to work and serve Kenyans diligently.
Positive transformation
“Kenyans are no longer willing to wait and listen to excuses. We must perform. Kenyans want a positive transformation,” he said at State House, Nairobi.
Mr Lenku has served the industry since 1996. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in marketing from the University of Nairobi and a diploma in Hotel Management from Kenya Utalii College.
His nomination comes at a time when insecurity has been on the rise in most parts of the country, with robberies, carjackings and home invasions being the most common crimes.
