By Kingsley E. Hope

Collapsed Building

Three women met their deaths on Monday, when a three-storey building collapsed on them at Safo Abodwese, near Krofrom, in the Kumasi metropolis.

An old lady who was rescued from the rubble, was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), for treatment.

The building which was housing more than 100 tenants, is said to have collapsed, after a heavy downpour.

Eye-witnesses said many of the occupants were not in the building when the incident occurred at about 8:00 p.m.

When the Ghanaian Times visited the scene, a combined team of fire and police personnel was seen clearing the pile of concrete and searching for trapped victims.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the mortuary of KATH.
